Harry Maguire deserves an England recallbrtpg, according to Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. (More Football News)

Thomas Tuchel takes charge of his first England games later this month, as the Three Lions take on Albania and Latvia respectively.

Maguire, who has been capped 64 times, did not make the cut for Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad, albeit that was at least partly down to injury.

The centre-back played just once under interim manager Lee Carsley, but has been a key figure for Amorim since the Portuguese replaced Erik ten Hag at United.

Maguire has played 27 times in all competitions for United this season, making 88 clearances, which ranks second among the club's defenders, after Matthijs de Ligt.

No United defender has made as many headed clearances as Maguire's 62, while the 31-year-old also tops the Red Devils' defensive unit for aerial duels won (69).

And Amorim feels Maguire is more than worthy of a call-up to Tuchel's first squad.

"If it's enough is with the national coach,  I would be really happy for him, I think he deserves it," Amorim said.

"He is a great guy, I think he needs to still improve because when you are a player you can improve every time and improve a lot of things.

"But I think his performances in the moment are quite good and you feel he is more a leader now that can help a national team,66br so I hope he is in the national team in the next games."

United are in FA Cup action against Fulham on Sunday, and though they are toiling in the bottom half of the Premier League, there is still hope they can salvage some silverware this season.

"I see a clear path, I see that from the board also," said Amorim when asked about the club's direction under INEOS, which runs the footballing operations at Old Trafford.

"They are doing difficult changes, they are not popular, but they are doing them because they have a vision. That is clear.

"But in the future we need to show some results – because you can make a lot of changes and if we don't have results, people won't feel confidence and happy.

Hamilton secured his third top-three start of the 2024 season, while out-qualifying Mercedes team-mate George Russell in successive races for the first time this term.

That means he will start at the front of the grid at Spa for the second year in a row, with Verstappen taking a 10-place grid penalty after exceeding the maximum number of power units permitted throughout the season.

"The good thing is we have a clear pathbrtpg, now it's hard but we are doing things to achieve success in the future."
