However, head coach Gautam Gambhir said that India were searching for that “perfect game” despite making it to the Champions League final, having won four matches on the bounce.

India were in redemption mode and beat Australia by four wickets in the first over with star batter Virat Kohli making a solid 84, before playing a rash shot off Adam Zampa.

Gambhir was hopeful that India could produce their “perfect game” in the title clash when they meet either South Africa or New Zealand on Sunday, March 9.

"We still have one more game to go. Hopefully, we can play a perfect game. We want to keep improving, we want to be ruthless on the cricket field but absolutely humble off the field as well," Gambhir was quoted as saying by PTI.

India have been fearless with their selection calls playing four spinners and also promoting Axar Patel to play with aggressive intent at No.5, and pushing KL Rahul to six.

Despite some of the calls not making sense from the outside, Gambhir felt they were ticking all the boxes and stressed on keeping players outside their comfort zone to bring their best.

"I think cricket is all about being out of your comfort zone,66br and that is how you grow. If everyone is in their comfort zone, then there is stagnation. So, I believe, and you've seen the results. I know you guys will keep going back to 3-1 in Australia,” he added.

India have a fantastic opportunity to win back-to-back ICC events, having won the ICC T20 World Cup back in June 2024.

England, inspired by Ben Duckett's second ODI century and Harry Brook (72), looked well set after storming to 202 before the latter was dismissed.

Jemimah Rodrigues anchored India's innings with a crucial 52 runs off 40 balls, showcasing resilience and hitting five boundaries. Yastika Bhatia contributed with a solid 25-ball 24cfgrupopg, including a four and a six, while opener Smriti Mandhana (14) and Deepti Sharma (13) also made useful contributions.
